For the 6th year in a row, Shift Health was proud to be a partner of Innovation Factory’s annual Synapse Life Science Pitch Competition, awarding $5,000 of strategy consulting services to the runner-up, PROVA Innovations.

The competition, now in its 7th year and which took place in a virtual format on March 25, 2020, was designed to take ideas out of the lab and into the market, by providing emerging life science companies with the ability to network with industry leaders. The event is also an opportunity to support Hamilton’s growing life sciences ecosystem. This year, 12 Ontario life science innovators were selected to participate in three months of training to prepare for the competition. From that group, three finalists were selected to deliver their pitches to a panel of judges for a chance to compete and win a share of $75,000 in cash and in-kind prizes.

The winner of this year’s competition was Bisep Inc., which was founded in 2015 to create new technologies and devices to enhance people’s performance in sport, exercise, and rehabilitation. PROVA Innovations Ltd. came in second, which was also founded in 2015 to develop new technologies that aid people suffering from brain injuries that caused mobility restrictions. Rounding out the top-3 finalists was Hylvy Health, which was founded in 2019 to design high-tech modular sexual rehabilitation devices for women with pelvic diseases and cancers. Shift Health would like to congratulate the finalists and winners of the 7th annual Synapse Life Science Pitch Competition and looks forward to working with PROVA Innovations.
